Head of school: Lisa Norris

Mrs Lisa-Jayne Norris School Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead(DSL)

The Head of the school is Mrs Lisa Norris.  Lisa began dancing at the age of 3. She studied Ballet, Tap and Modern at a local school. After being successful in all of her dancing exams Lisa decided to take her love of dance further.

At the age of 16 Lisa began a three year performing arts course specialising in the teaching of dance at Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre. She studied a wide range of subjects including; Music, Anatomy and Physiology and history of dance. After being successful in all of her vocational exams Lisa went on to pass her teaching certificates with the ISTD in National, Modern Theatre and Tap and the RAD teaching certificate in Classical Ballet. Lisa graduated with Distinction in 1995.

In 2005 Lisa completed a BA(Hons) in Dance Education. Lisa completed her Licentiate Tap with the ISTD in July 2013 and her Licentiate National in May 2019. Lisa also holds her Postgraduate Certificate in Education(Lifelong Learning) and has completed her MA in Professional Practice(Dance Technique Pedagogy). Lisa is also an approved ISTD Tutor and Silver Swans teacher and is currently working towards her Doctorate In Education.

Alongside teaching at the Academy Lisa has taught at several schools and colleges throughout the northwest and lectured at Manchester Metropolitan University. She currently lectures in dance at Shockout Arts delivering modules on the Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. She is also the Head of Student Services and the SEND lead. Lisa is also a qualified Mental Health First Aider.

Dance teacher- Sarah Richardson

Miss Sarah Richardson Dance Teacher, Safeguarding Officer

 

Sarah started out at a local dance school taking ballet, tap and modern. She then went on to train at Merseyside Dance and Drama centre for 3 years where she obtained her teaching qualifications in RAD ballet, ISTD modern, tap, ballet and national. Sarah then went on to dance in various cabaret shows abroad before settling in Rhodes, Greece for 17 years. Sarah had her own cabaret group there as well as opening her own dance school. She has been back in the UK for 8 years now, and as well as teaching dance she is also a fitness instructor and Personal Trainer.
 
 
 
Teaching qualifications: RAD Teaching Certificate and Diploma, CDE Modern Theatre and Tap, Acrobatic Arts Certified.
